I think shoulder color could still happen. My Birchen are very slow maturing. I hope anyway! The rooster has gotten me before. I go in that pen far enough to do feed, water and collect eggs.

if you want to get ready of the original rooster ,than you have to keep the pullet with nice hackle . she will be your main body pattern breeder .

Chooksman, I have 3 Birchen pullets two with good markings and one solid black. Also two Blue Birchen pullets. I tried my best to get pictures sorry not the best.

First . I told you many time you don t have to appologize when you posy photos .that what a thread is for so we can share photos and information about ours chooks ,

all 3 are nice but different .
the Black is a best on type ,second Blue and third silver hackle ,
the silver hackle is a best on body marking and a quality of the silver .she seen a little narrower around chest area .she is not chuncky .

I like the Black one . best type .10/10 body type .back and tail .love every thing about her .
here how to work with a black one if she have a good eggs colour .you need to mate her to your original rooster he will ad colour to her progeny and keeping a solid type .

there is a big difference between the Black pullet and a silver hackle .
Black pullets is a correct marans selohette . solid .strong body and chuncky . they way they post to be .
silver hackle great marking but very long and thin body ,thin head

Black pullet is a better breeder .

the Blue pullet in the middle is great one too .love her body type and broad shoulder ,thick head and stong neck , great tail too .

the Blue one in the left is too thin .

Black pullet and middle blue pullets are your best . correct body type .that what we need from the pullets .body type ,they will pass on to they progeny .
type is from mama hen .

I like this pullets .correct body type a little shorter but wide. gorgeous hackle marking .deep chest . great walker . lovely small tail .
only thing I don t like about her is her plumage type a little loose and cushioned at the saddle area .eazy to fix . body type and deepth of the chest are the most important trait we select the pullets for . Tail is extra if they have correct one . she need few more month to fill up .
