2 pens just for a copper ,that more than enough .
pen BC rooster over BLC hens
pen2 BLC rooster over BC hens .
BL from one pen will be matted to BC from other pen .

to breed and maintain a ealthy line you need 2 pens , no more .keep it simple but efficient .easy to master .
quality of the chooks is better than quantity .

Maybe I should keep him through the winter. Just incase I lose one. If I get rid of my Whites. It would give me two pens to work with Birchen. Would I need to keep one of the other roosters?

if you keeping 2 pens for Birchen than keep one of the cockerels .the Blue boy .

2 pens for a copper and 2 pens for Birchen .
sound good to me.no more than 4 hens in each pen .

your oldest BLC pullets start laying now ,so they will be ready to breed from them in the spring .
when time come to breed them pen them with they mother and Blaze .hatch from them first .
when the BC younger pullets will be ready to breed from them ,pen them with a Nimbus and his mother BL hen too.
if you do that you end up with a healthy combination .
make sure to get familiar with they eggs .who is laying what .will help you a lot in the future .

I will need to cull. I don't know how many Birchen I have but quite a few. Lots of Whites!

I looked on my records and all three Birchen cockerels that hatched where the only 3 that hatched from pen one. Pen 1 rooster was the one we butchered. All the pullets hatched from pen two.

less hens in the pen is better 2 or 3 will give a good result ,because it is easy to reconize each hen eggs ,very important when breeding .

Pen with best Birchen hens. I only have one or 2 Birchen hens. The rest are Blue Birchen. Is that ok?
