good he is a cockerel . you don t have to worry about him .he should grow up to be well colored I think .

she is stunning .correct long body type .} need to see how wide she is from the rear and front}.
correct long flat back .
correct long neck and good head gorgeous eyes.
correct hackle marking and gorgeous copper quality .
correct tail { a little longer } correct angle 45 degrees .
correct leg size ,color and good feathering .
correct plumage type { not loose ,well tight to the body }
correct under fluff . pure black ,I can not see any white or grey .

this pullet is from a good stock for sure .where does she come from ?

Thanks so much for the info. It helps me confirm some of my elementary thoughts and see more that I need to be looking at. She is from G-Bear Farms in Oklahoma. James and Connie Guibert.

I really regret not keeping any cockerels but I really just wanted to test their birds and get some championship colored eggs. I think I’ll go back to them to hatch for cockerels this fall once I finish moving.

I’ve got some photos of the eggs I hatched. I was going for splash to get a splash pullet or two, and didn’t hatch a single splash! I got all blue. They also included some of their original darkest egg line of BCM. I kept the pullets I hatched from that line. I’m ready to start learning a lot about marans, so appreciate this thread.

this one is stunning .love every thing about him . need more photos of him from all angles .don t be shy take as many photos of him ,running ,standing ,walking .front .rear .side .top .every thing .he look very good to me . let find out more about him .

I got a lot more pictures today of Drumstick. It was not easy as he is afraid of the camera and wanted to hide in the middle of the others. In one picture you can see he's not as wide as George is as he's standing beside him.
