International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Need help identifying if these are BCM! Bought from breeder 12 weeks ago but only one looks like a BCM. They have different colored leg bands to differentiate them one from another. Let me know if you need more pics. I would not use that breeder for FBCM

@Chooks man what do you think of this hen?
I love her super dark color. She surely has the “black” in the FBlackCM .
She is so dark. I love her eyes!!
She is also very young about 15 weeks

Line #1 is now 5 weeks old.
These are the chicks i hatched.
I believe 3 cockerels, 3 pullets.

The one that had the worst hatch down color? A ton of white? Hes a jerk.
Whenever i go in the pen, he runs up and pecks me. We will see how his temperment is in a few months. I despise a flogging rooster...

I notice these marans have too much feathering on their feet too.

Where are yours coming from? I don’t like all the white. I never had any that white at that age.

The first batch i hatched from this seller were beautiful, correct type and color hatch down, friendly.

Had to cull every bird that i owned because i brought in infected chicks that infected all my birds.

Cleaned, sanitized, waited and then bought another dozen eggs from the same seller, same rooster and hens. This is what i hatched. Totally different chicks. 1 i culled for aggression at 3 weeks old. He made everyone bloody. Its amazing the difference.

I like this grumpy looking cockerel ,thick ,wide ,strong head ,good thick solid feet well feathered without going over the top ,just enough .
love his feet color not too dark ,light colored toes

does mean if they are from a same pair they have to look similar .for that to happen the breeders pair have proven to be potent . POTENT chooks is the one can throw baby chicks like her/him all the time regardless of they mate . very rare to find .
or maybe they are not from a same pairing .

this pullet has a correct body type and she is gorgeous too .

stop warring too much about leg feathering . it is the last thing to be fixed . body type and body color pattern plus dark eggs are the priority to build any marans line .
