International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

That is far too early for them to stop. When they start laying?
Chooks man
[/QUO.
I messed up the laying cycle when I put light last winter. My turkey is molting now. They may start molting also. I learned my lesson. I bought reptile heat lights for this winter. They only put out heat no light.

I banded the cockerels last night. Tonight I need to band the pullets. None of the younger pullets came out of the house. Here are some pictures of 3 BC pullets and one BLC pullet that's the same age as Black Jack and Ace. I didn't get very good pictures. This will have to do till everyone has bands.

You have stunning marans @marchick

My line is not quite as dark but still nice. They are pretty good layers though. For as much as they lay the color is still pretty good. Right now I only have 6 or 7 old enough to lay. I only have one or 2 still laying. The rest have shut down.
I have 8 hens laying every other day. Nice color the lighter eggs do hatch more often. I will take 3 # 7 over 5 #4 That is just my preference I give most of my eggs to the Senior Center when I am not hatching TOM

Very nice!
I would rather have fewer dark eggs instead of a bunch of lighter ones myself. Its a trade off.

Don't get me wrong. My egg color isn't bad. Just not where I would like it to be. If mine didn't lay 5 days a week or more. When they are laying good. They would be super dark. Most just started taking a break. I think there are only 6 hens. I think only 2 are laying now. The rest are too young.
