International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Hey everyone, just checking in. Hope all is well. It hasn't been the best year for me raising Marans but I have a few. We have battles raccoons all summer. Once the grow outs are a little older I will take some pics. So far, my favorite black copper cockerel with good copper somehow broke his wing yesterday. He probably had a run in with a game rooster. I've had to tape his wing to set it so hopefully he will heal. There is a blue copper cockerel I have my eye on as well, and one black copper pullet. Im seeing TONS of dark and marbled eyes in my grow outs. There are only a few with clearer eyes.

Summer keeps us busy keeping the birds watered and cared for. That coupled with working full time in Healthcare I dont get a lot of free time. Sorry for my absence. :)

Good to hear from you Kayla! I can only imagine how busy you are given your profession, caring for animals and just regular life in general. Sorry to hear about your cockerel, hopefully his wing will heal.

Take Care, Keith

So nice to see you again!
I wondered what happened to you and assumed your work schedule had you busy.

Youve been missed.

Ive noticed most of my line#1 have marbled eyes too.

He has brown spots that I don't like. I have never seen spots like that on them before. He has color on his chest but just a little. Which is fine. You can see them all across him. That's why I left him in the cull pen. I see a white spot. Not sure about that. Other than that he is fine and would have moved him over.

please don t sale him or cull yet .I m trying to make sure we are not missing some thing . there is a lot people will die to have him .
I told you your line is good ,has flows for sure ,but it is well close to SOP as possible ,so share it with peoples .you can see they are struggling with they shipped eggs .
think about please .
we can wait for photos ,but we can t afford let that cockerel goes unchecked .
