My 2 hens that are 15 months old. they lost a lot of copper around their necks with the last molt. And I know from past comments there is an issue with large combs.

mating him to these 2 hens will produce 50% of the pullets with a good hackles . not sure about the body type because none of the photos showing that .
cockerels from this mating I m not sure .
if they are related I will no worry about breeding them togethers ,will produce too much culls .

thanks

I'd have to go back through the list, but you told me they had great body type when I posted pics of them 6 months or so ago, just to large in the combs. the only other bad thing I can say about them is the eggs are not as round as they should be. But I am trying to actually have birds to have a breeding program to work on things. Hopefully now that my farm is below 5000 feet I can hatch FBCM without losing 95 percent of everything due to high altitude.

The roo is unrelated, so that's good. I can use him and keep looking for a better rooster, that will be helpful as getting eggs shipped in like I have been is a waste of money. 60 eggs this past year only to have have 8 hatch and up with 3 when it is time to put the breeding pen together is disheartening.

here my 4 th SPC cockerel of last years he is 1 year and 2 weeks old .he is better than his brothers . he has mass and better thick bones not as thick as I like them to be . gorgeous long back and stunning tail .
this guy will be used over Khabib s { SPC rooster} daughter to breed more splash and ad some length to the pullets . widen the genes pool.
I will breed him to the 2 Recessive white hens . they have mass .great thick bones ,great legs ,large eggs .good head and comb .gorgeous tail .they are lucking the dark eggs traits . Splash and White pattern work well together .View attachment 2464626

what do you get from splash/white cross?

not a marans question: why do chicks die when 3-4 days old? some of them were hatched from the pullet's eggs. the other breeds hatched with them do not die. they are lakedanzi chicken (my friend's)

chicks die on the first few days of hatch mean they where not healthy when hatched . embryo did not develop properly ,so they hatched weak .

I don t know why peoples keep hatching pullets eggs any way . nothing good come out of pullets eggs .
