My new to me rooster with no white tail feathers. The one in the back is molting real hard. Not sure about him. Just put the one in the foreground in with 5 BCM hens. TOM

gorgeous copper .the one in a front too much tail but stunning look. the one in the back gorgeous comb .
how are they now .what the chicks from him look like .by now they must be big .

These are my first marans that I hatched last spring, the hens are laying some gorgeous eggs so I'm incubating some now. Not sure if they are up to SOP but I've really enjoyed them so far. The best rooster I have ever had, my 1yr old son can feed him out of his hand View attachment 3045197

Thanks chooksman. I actually have two more bloodlines that I hatched out this year and have kept 10 pullets and 2 cocks so I'm getting a decent flock started

Here is a cockerel that has really caught my eye this year. If the forest weren't on fire, his silver would be brighter since the sun is tinted right now, but he's the one that is in the lead for this year's keeper.

he is all class .I told my friend your Birchen marans are the best . you perfected the art of marans breeding .Bravo
love every thing about him , all the desirable marans traits are there .
now I think it is a time for you to divide your flock into few different lines to avoid inbreeding quickly . create cockerels lines/ and pullets lines { cousins lines} so you can cross them in the future if any undesirable traits appeared .

he is perfect . 10/10 supreme champion ,every thing about is correct all the marans traits are well expressed .
for the peoples who don t know marans , look at this dude he is a perfect example of true marans body type .
every thing is correct ,exactly like the SOP { original french } describe it =
1-head small compare to the body
2- smaller comb with a well define points .
3- small and more round weatles
4- orange bright eyes-
5 strong beak horne colour .
6- strong neck arched and well colored
7- strong and long body type , rectangle type .
8- long flat back well feathered and coloured .
9- small tail fully feathered ,free from any parasitic white or long sickles .
10- strong wing held close to the body .
11- deep and wide chest not highly lifted from the ground neither too sloppy toward the front ,well balanced .
12-strong ,strait and well spaced feets , nicely feathered without too much access feathers ,well colored { pinkish type} not too dark . little shorted than average ,not too tall .
13- pure black plumage with a healthy seen . free from any parasitic white .
14- correct stance ,well balanced , thigh well placed not too much to the front neither to the back .
15- complete body pattern , correct pure silver .
16- long and lush luncet ,covering all the back ,well coloured too.
17- shoulder with a complete pattern not fragmented .

he excel in all the traits .he has not missed one post . true marans phenotype .
my dear friend you should be well proud of you self and your work ,what you have achieved is sublime ,The French been trying for 100 years to breed birchen like you . you should move to France and show them how it is done .

for me your are a birchen marans breeder by excellence . impressive what you achieved .
