There were also two chicks in the batch that were black coppers out of a blue breeding pen, so hopefully in the future I could get some blues and splash from them.

take it easy on your self .I m starting doing a same thing travelling less and less .good for my mind and body . I haven t moved for last 4 months since I arrived to this new place . I feel great .

So now you have 3 BLCM hens laying dark eggs if I got this alright?

They look good . You will not get. Blue copper or Splash copper from black copper stock doesn’t t work that way . To get blue and splash copper you need to breed a blue to blue.

Well I knew I was short on cockerels Andre not sure what will come out of the incubator so I Ickes up 10 more chicks from a breeder. I drove 9 hours round trip to pick these guys up. One of them is missing an eye? It’s just permanently closed up, so she’s not a breeder. But once again I think I only got one cockerel in the new bunch! This might be my new breeding rooster
The chick in the front is the rooster, I think. He even acts like a rooster!

They look good less white marking great stuff. He look cockerel to me . Good luck with them.

Yes, There is at least a third one in the blcm pen somewhere that lays nice eggs. Should I move this one over to the BC pen with the others? That would make 3 BC hens and 2 blcm. I believe the 2 blcm are pullets. I am not 100% sure. I will have to check for wing band.

Yea move her to thd BC pen with the others. Very good breeding pen, all dark eggs layers . That what we are looking for . Love that

Yes they are pure black copper . They will breed true.

I was going to wait until I got the first 21 to post more egg photos, but I just couldn’t resist sharing this beauty. The year’s first snow put them off a bit, but got the first egg after the snow today. Not massive but it’s still a pullet egg. First is it I my hand and second it in a box of eggs for my dad.
