International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

She has no name yet.

All the green leg band hens were from a hatch I was going to sell as chicks last spring but changed my mind because they looked so good.

I'm glad I kept them.
Great move.
Name her foundation. Because she is going to be the corner stone of your line.
She is your great asset.

Brahma BLCM hen she is big , heavy , long , solid , deep . Wide and balanced with a great legs and tail. She is a true sister to my BLC M rooster Conan The Barbarian. She will be bred this season with a silver dark cuckoo rooster Rashad .
Start working on my pairing for this season . The hens are almost done with moulting . They start to sing now . I think in 4 or 5 weeks they will start laying again.

DarkEyes BLCM hen. She has the shortest legs in all my Marans. She is really low to the ground type . Super long and solid true triangular body type with a long neck and lovely small tail. She is deep and wide well balanced with a good straight short legs . The only fault she has she is all blue no copper any where plus her eyes are brown. She will be bred to Rashad the cuckoo rooster.

Finally got picture of the first 21 eggs from The BlCM pullet. (Not actually all the first because my dad was looking after them when I went on holiday and forgot to take photos until the last day.) I’ve named her Chanel because she’s fancy and French. I’ll attach the pictures instead of putting them in the message and taking up a whole page. Lovey and dark, shiny and quite round. Not huge but she’s only seven and a bit months old.

The BCM pullet (Natasha) is the one with yellow legs. Since she started laying, they are turning paler. Above is now and bellow is an old picture from when she was younger. If her legs turn white, is it still an issue? My silkies are currently sitting on Brahma eggs because I need a new roo, and I put two of her eggs in too to make up a nest. I’m marking her offspring with red bands and Chanel’s with purple. Gonna wait for consistently bigger eggs from the BlCM to hatch more out.
