International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Solid black hen 3 and half years old . She has a square body type plus she is tall on her feet . Lovely small tail and nice flat back . Need a little length . She lay dark eggs . Will BFF e bred to dark silver/golden cuckoo rooster Rashad he has low and long body type.
She is very big and chunky super heavy. Pure black

here is my pairing to produce solid black and dark cuckoo marans .
Rashad . low to ground and very long body type low tail with a great shape .hatched from dark eggs .his father is Shamrock Blue dark silver cuckoo and his mama is DarkEyes . he look more like his mama . good for me .

hen #1 Black caviar .daughter of Black Mamba over Ravendale .

i will expect 50 % of they progeny will have long / chunky and low to ground body type with sublime tails .
the other half will be big and tall /chunky too with a great tail
half of them will be solid black and the other half will be dark silver/golden cuckoo
looking forward to work with them .
always we have to balance the mating never breed 2 fowl with a same fault .

@Punkybrewster you can see the body type is mostly inherited from the mama hen .if you want to breed short long body type rooster than select you the hen with those traits .I think Moonshine sons will be great type .most of them will look like her .

It must not get very cold where you are. I am assuming it does, however, get very wet.

In the south it is usually mild in winter,
Very humid and hot in summer.

It does get wet and takes a while to dry out due to humidity. Wood rots so fast. Even pressure treated.

Moving cockerels this morning.
I've culled 2 with X legs a few days ago.
I tagged 1 more that seems to have them.
They go through that awkward stage where they leggy and I was confused at first. Now I see the difference more often.

Another one is just plain bad looking so I marked to cull.

I will get photos soon.

You have some very nice looking cockerels in there . They are growing fast. I ll comment on them in depth later.

My second solid black hen. Black Caviar true sister . She is as tall as her sister but she is a little longer . With a longer flat back . Still not as rectangular as I like them to be . But good enough. Love the colour of her feet’s not too dark at all well pinckish.

She will be bred to Rashad too
