@Punkybrewster here a good advice for your 3 new cockerels . Pen them with the older selected hens like MS , LS and the others . They will mature earlier and learn manners so we can breed from the them earlier .

This is good advice. Thank you.
I will put them in the pen with the hens.

These 3 cockerels are so very big for their age. Hormones have not kicked in yet though.

As long as they don't bother the hens when they molt, all should be good.

This one is great too he has better leg feathering but he was not the one. I notice in the photo maybe he was the one standing next to him .
You name this one .
We have 2 to keep eyes on hope we will blessed to see them grow up healthy and turn up to be great looking cockerels .
I m confident now to say LS is a dominant breeder if she will be pair to a good rooster she will throw some show quality birds for sure .

Yes you can do that if they are obvious X legs.
Keep few extra than we need just to see the expression of other traits . Brother s will express them selves differently I did highlighted that in a previous post with my 4 roosters true brothers .

Your example of brothers was excellent.
Yes, I will just get rid of the ones that are very obvious.

The hens will put them in they places don t worry about that .
The cockerels will pick on the flock energy . It s natural for them

Are you picking up this technique in how to look at the chicks with a selective eyes
Me when I look at them is like I pull them apart . I look at each trait . Learn that when I was young from my mother .
Chooks nan
Yes. I am.
Especially when I photograph them and look at the pictures.

Having these 3 new cockerels and 2 pullets in with my chooks gave me a moment of understanding what you are telling me.

It is now obvious what a good Marans should be.
Seeing photos shows me but having them side by side in the pen and holding them gave me that AHAH moment.

I get it and your photos I can relate to now. I have a new understanding.

That mass and type need to be felt and seen in real life, then the photos make sense in my brain.

That is great news than . So serious Marans breeding will start now
Agree with you a person has to hold a correct Marans or see one to understand what the SOP is calling for
