International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I only ended up with 11 chicks. There are 8 BC and 3 Blcm. I am grateful to have them. It was a poor hatch. I do not see any life in the rest of the eggs. I will keep them in till tomorrow. Then I am going to check them to see at what stage they quit. I updated this since apparently I can't count! I said 10 chicks but there is 11 chicks. Lol

We put in the window today. We now have a window that opens at opposite corners for better circulation and more lighting. Which was desperately needed. We know the window was supposed to be hung vertically. With the squares at the top according to the sticker on the window. It's a chicken house though so who really cares. It also was supposed to open from the inside but we have it opening from the outside. I am going to put 1/2" hardware cloth across the inside of the window so nothing can get inside.

it is safer when it opens outside. it cannot be pushed inside and open by accident or by a big predator. all doors on my coops open outside. learned it hard way when my dogs pushed the door, got in and killed rabbits and guinea fowl.

Sorry that happened! I worry about my dog she pays a little too much attention to the pheasants. She chases anything that moves. She bites the mower and cart wheels. The window actually slides to the side. I open and close it from the outside. I am going to put 1/2" hardware cloth over the inside of the window so no predators can get inside. I should have put that up today but hopefully I can get it up tomorrow.

I found a window at the restore for $65. We are going to put it in the house the chicks are in and it will give more light actually for 3 houses. Plus it opens and will give circulation in this heat. So far I have 6 chicks hatched.
that will be great for the chicks ,
great hatch so far , hope you get more .
chooks man
