here is a pretty decent backside pic of a blue silver (blue birchen, is sometimes called) he has a little bleedthrough in the wing bows but it is an older pic, I can dig through the phone for more good pics later.

I do think he is the better looking of my cockerels but his color needs to be improved. He has yellow in his heckles and a lot of white in his saddles.

Here are two cockerels from this year, unfortunately the dramatic cold snap has already cost them their comb points. The first guy has proper blue color, the second dude is too dark of blue with a bit of straw on the wing bows, both ended up clean legged so I'll have to see if they outshine any other cockerels enough not to become roasts. They aren't bad, though, they have potential.

Both are very handsome! :love

The wind is really blowing hard and I’m off work today so I did what I could to improvise a wind break and get ready for the winter season. Nothing too fancy mostly siding cutoffs I had laying around, some large flower pots, and some clear shower liners.
I also found a small leftover piece of polycarbonate roof sheet left over from the greenhouse I built last fall. I used the polycarbonate in front of the ventilation on the north end of the coop. The sheet doesn’t block the ventilation just there to slow down the cold north winds I’ll keep an eye on them for a while and if they look like they need more I’ll probably buy some bales of straw to line up along the run IMG_3566.jpeg IMG_3567.jpeg IMG_3568.jpeg IMG_3523.jpeg

I'm going to completely block the North and west sides of the new run and only have the south side open. East side is the barn. I'm wide open like you. Roof will be partially covered with steel and clear panels and 2x4 cattle fencing on the rest. I'll tarp the roof when forecast calls for heavy snow until I can get the rest of roof steel.
The pool won't be in there. Just temp for the ducks. Lots to do yet but future plans are to build an identical one on the other side minus the space for the man door.
