Into Your Coop - On Command

Yes. I've trained my chickens to come when I call them. I used treats and a verbal cue. Now I only need the verbal cue and they will all come running. "Hey you guys! Come on! Come on!"

Chickens look so funny when they run with those short little legs at top speed! I get them into the run in a blink of an eye! Sometimes, I reward and reinforce with treats once they get in.

I tap a hockey stick on the ground - tap tap - I then wait 6 or 7 seconds and repeat. They then dutifully start walking up their ramp and into the coop. [edit: I have to repeat a number of times.]

Training involved the same thing but included chasing them around with the hockey stick until they sought refuge in the coop.

It is important that the tapping is far enough away that they do not feel threatened as they go to the ramp and into the coop.
