Introction.. In the right place

Hi! WELCOME!!! I have 34 chickens. I have been raising them since I was 5 years old. I have a mix of layers like NH Reds EE that kinda stuff I have one sultan and one Jersey Giant and they are best friends. I also have a dog and a parakeet along with two fish. I put chickens in fairs and show them along with lots of photography. I love to play lacrosse and basketball.

IDK I AM just answering the questions xD I found BYC looking for emu info (yes I wan't an emu and cow's and alllllllllll the farmy things I can get my hands on but right now we are short on money and land sooooooo... Yeah I will stick to chickens!!! OK GOOD LUCK WITH ALLLLLLLLLLL YOUR CHICKEN THINGS!!! AND anything else HAVEAGOODONE!!!

also i thought i would update you on they split legger - (named it splits) :) proper right! still kinda wobbly but up on its own 2 feet... HATES THE SPLINT though lol

The blind one is a challenge though. i have introduced food and water to them and splits took right away.. going full throttle on food and water... now my little blind one ( havent named it because i dont know if it will make it and naming makes it harder when they die ) I cant really get to cooperate with the food and water bit.. i still have about 48 hours left since the hatch was done so hopefully by then i can get it to eat and drink something.

last little one i dont know how to fix it.. it drank but didnt want food so i set it back off to the side.

I found that keeping them on the rubber shelf liner with the little holes like you get at walmart helps with the the splits . Worse place for one with the splits is on a smooth surface . Hope the little blind one gets better . BTW one of the other members has a blind from hatch duck that just hatched some eggs a few weeks ago .

I'll start with the standard questions then tell you more

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? - I am not new to chicken. my grandpareView attachment 1205110 View attachment 1205111 View attachment 1205112 View attachment 1205113 View attachment 1205114 View attachment 1205115 nts had farms and raised all sorts of animals. Got my first horse before i could walk and stayed with it when it dies and it broke my heart. I began trying chickens out about 7 years ago. First I got easter egg chickens.. they were killed by a rogue cat who knew how to dig a hole (dad gum cat) second I got same thing.. easter eggers and felt they were better at a farm they are with a family friend and honestly I havent asked about them in a while... So now MUCH MUCH later I researched and decided I needed the cutest fluffiest pet chickens I could find... I dont want to kill them and eat them later just reaaaallllyyyyyy love animals. Not a vegan and yes I still eat chicken.. just not my own.. I have had my current flock about 9 months and yes i LOVVVVEEEE them.. like bathe them, snuggle them, take way too many pictures an videos of them, and completely go off on anyone who says Silkies are ugly... LIKE GO STRAIGHT TO..... you know..

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?- Let me count... I have 7 mature mixture of colored silkie adultish chickens... 7 that are 3 weeks old.. and 15 freshly hatched (within the last 24 hours) mix of frizzle, sizzle, and silkie cutest babies ever... although 2 might not make it or may be special needs. I am incubating 15 more white silkies and no i don't plan on keeping them all... I actually only want about half of what I got going... I will certainly keep my special needers if they make it.. ALL of my adults which are 3 males and 4 females.. and about half of the babies I have hatched and am currently hatching... I want a mixture of the best chickens ever... which, of course, all mine are!!

(3) What breeds do you have?- I have Silkie Bantams, Frizzle and Sizzles

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?- Well I researched everything about chickens before I ordered from the hatchery and almost EVERY article and forum was BYC.. cant say I regret finding this website. I have learned about vent cleaning, prolapsed vents, improper digestive growth and how to hatch from the hen to the incubator... I love the knowledge on this website.. Everything I googled always ends up here!! I love it!!!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?- Hobbies include working on cars.. classic to current.. Riding dirbikes, riding my longboard, writing software (got a degree in software engineering), being a mom (yes hobby because i love it) to my actual kids and my pets ( i have a parakeet, 4 fish, a baby turtle (rescue), a mini dog, and a super fat cat ( i cant keep him from eating too much)

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Basically I really just enjoy life. I am single and my kids and pets and job are my absolute world. I live on the border of the country and city so I can have a taste of both worlds and I never go out an socialize even though i am a social BUTTERFLY.. yep wings and all.. lololol

I cant say that I am an expert on any of my pets because I google everything I find to be a potential problem (with any of them), but i am pretty knowledgeable on them.. I give my cat and dog vaccines myslef and foster other creatures.. uhhhh besides like snakes, rats, spiders, or bugs of any kind.. best forster ever was a chameleon... love em..

I basically love this community here.. BYC is full of very awesome people, who speak in languages i don't get sometimes but I still do what I can and ask about the rest!!! Hope to talk to you all soooooon!
