Introducing baby to mom

She’s the biggest and meanest out of all of them.(others are bantam chickens and small ducks, other than Muscovy male)

They don’t enter the shed during the day, sometimes our tiny rooster comes in and today he gave the duckling a test nibble but that’s it. At night they’ll be locked up all by themselves.

Helps im building a new shed right now. Will be done tomorrow, she will get the old one all to themselves.

Baby is doing great! I had the mom and baby separated in a dog kennel but the latches on it don’t quite work so mom forced her way out. She was with baby on the other side of the shed with her sister, cuddled together with baby in between them when I came outside.

I offered them baby food, and they ate it readily. Baby watched before trying to eat as well! I’m going to moisten the food a bit though, just wanted to see if it would try.

I’ll get photos of it in a few moments once I take their food back out.

Baby 2 has hatched! This one had pipped on the wrong end, and it seemed like nothing was going to happen. But was away for an hour and came home to it!

It has a bright red belly button, so I’m letting that heal/dry up before putting it with mom and other baby.

The other two eggs are pipping! Another one is pipping in the wrong end again, I don’t know if it’s just these eggs cause I’ve never had that before but haven’t had a bad incident so far.

Well at least your getting some hatching. I hope the one hatching wrong end makes it out. @WVduckchick can help with wrong Enders. How’s the baby with the red belly?
