Make sure you check toenails before show!!!! I’ll check in my book to see if it’s a DQ, but in American Blues it’s a DQ for white toenails! Im a rather young shower (still in youth) and I’ve gotten thrown off the table quite rudely by a judge for ONE white spot on one of my bucks very inner toenails on his left foot. Do you have the standard of perfection?Turns out the box I used for my show table for began to buckle under his weight so this pic isn't as accurate as I would've liked. He was very good and the attention span was waning, so, another day.
Still, I can kind of tell a couple things!
He needs better bone and size like every blue flem in existence, but I'm not a good judge of how he stacks up to his peers yet. My guess is better considering he's got fawn/sandy lines in his pedigree.
His color is rough. I don't he will ever GC or even place with it unless he molts out better. It's not a surprise, he's from a 'mixed' background which femmie people have strokes about for this reason. But I think he has a pretty good shape, which is more important, and will be a fine starter.
Needs more length, esp in shoulders, but only has to make 20" for senior class and he's already 13-14". He has 4 months to put on the extra.
I like his butt. I think he's going to have good depth there. Hips are a little narrow but might improve. A little turnout on the feet but that's not a huge fault in Flemish. Need to make him run and see if he tracks okay.
The rollback on his fur is not great but I can't tell if that's a baby thing.

He has a nice head and I like his ears when they're not folded. You can see the rusty bleeding here real strong though.

He's 3 months and 3 weeks old! I need to weigh him again. Hoping he's broken 7 lbs.
My initial goal for my meat-mutt project was to have them up in the 15lb+ range....after doing a lot of research it turns out that is simply not compatible with rex fur and good hock health. So my new goal is more like 10-12 lbs, which this guy will be pretty perfect for just counteracting the 8-9lb rexes in the mix. I'm going to be working with American Blues pretty heavily to help improve shape and color.
