Introducing new chicks into flock

We added a little cage in your coop to get them to see each other first, next we waited until they were about..3 months old? Then they were excepted into the flock!

Good luck!

I don't know what others do, but we have had 5 and 6 week olds move into the coop with the big girls. They started out free ranging with mom and the flock during the day and in seperate quarters at night. At 5 weeks we moved them into the main coop. Nobody got hurt.

So maybe start out letting the little ones free range with the older ones but don't put them into the pen together for awhile. I think the little ones are about 7 weeks old.

That works for us. I actually have this going on in two seperate coops. One is short on roost space right now, as some of the cockerel chicks will be moving out soon, so they want to sleep in the nest boxes. The coop with extra roost spaces work well. The little guys put themselves to bed on the roost and there is enough space for them to roost away from the adults.

My big girls are a year old and my little girls are 9 weeks old and they have been in with the big girls for 3 weeks now. The only problem I have is that the big girls still pick on the little girls. How long until they all just get a long?
