I have two 5-6 week old chicks, an EE and a silkie. They get along wonderfully. I got rid of three 5-6 wk old males last night. I intend to add a 5-6 week old female cochin and possibly a 3 month old Buff Orp. The two I already have have been chirping for the boys I got rid of last night. Will they be happy with the new additions? Should I get two 5-6 week old birds to add or can I go with the 5-6 wk old Cochin and 3 month old Buff Orp?
I understand the basics of introducing birds in and out of the flock when they are older but I am struggling with the best way when 5-6 week chicks are the established flock.
