Hi great straightforward site with easy advice for small backyard set up. We have 3 chickens. 2 are new araucanas and one is poorly. But all advice is helpful. How much cider vinegar to add to say 2 cups water for their drinking water? How to add garlic? Heard seaweed liquid is also good super tonic.

x2 what N F C said. I'd heard ACV in their drinking water wasn't a very good idea though. Garlic you just toss a couple smashed cloves into a gallon of water. No idea about seaweed juice.... never heard of that.

Anyway..........

:welcome:celebrate

Glad you're here Kiwi!

If you haven't yet, please make your chickens a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it! :D

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

I am sorry one of your birds is sick. :hugs Definitely post in our Emergency section and describe in detail all signs she is showing.

The dosage of Apple Cider Vinegar is 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. You can cut this down to use 1/2 gallon or 1 quart waterers. Change and make a new batch daily. Use it for one week, give them a week off and dose again.

ACV is not a cure all, only a tonic to help the immune system before illness.

Good luck and I hope she is ok! :hugs
