We are the Jacksons from west Michigan. We are fairly new to the chicken world; having gotten our first chicks in March 2017. Currently we have 9 in our flock:

Dolly - Blue Cochin (currently broody sitting on 6 eggs due April 13 +/- a day) :)
Omelete - Buff Orpington
Fluff - Light Brahma
Coco - Red Link
Honey - Easter Egger
Willa - Easter Egger
Chestnut - Easter Egger
Mrs. Speckles - Speckled Sussex
Jabba - Barred Rock who I think has developed ascites :(

We enjoy all of Michigan's spring, summer, and fall activities: gardening, camping, going to the beach, hunting, etc. I prefer to hibernate in the winter months

My husband and I have been married for 11.5 years and have two children; 8.5 yo son and 7 yo daughter. We have 2 dogs, Sage (Weimaraner) is 11.5yo and Gunner (yellow lab) 10.5yo.

I have been a registered nurse for 10 years working in Labor and Delivery.

:frowA big HELLO to @Bkjackson06 !
:welcome
Always great to greet a new member of this fun BYC flock!

What are the other 2 chickens ( if you have 9 but listed 7 )?

Oops! How could I forget Mrs. Speckles (speckled sussex)!!! She's the first to come running up to me. We have three EE that I put on one line :) That should equal 9

EEs are wonderful, aren't they.
Great name for your Speckled Sussex! Is she a momma?

Not a momma...she's a single lady! Rooster attacked me in February and is no longer with us. God rest his soul.

The eggs Dolly (blue cochin) is sitting on are from a friend they are a cross between an EE and silkie bantam rooster. Excited to see what they look like when they grow up.

Honey is my favorite EE, she's the color of honey and is as sweet as honey. Willa is starting to warm up to us, she was the roosters favorite girl.

G'Day from down under Bkjackson.. :frowWelcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
