(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Somewhat, I've had my small backyard flock for a couple of years.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Three hens

(3) What breeds do you have?
One barred rock and two wyandottes

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love having them and the eggs.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy running, podcasts, and spending time with my family.


(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have two kids, two cats, three chickens, and we just got an adorable Australian shepherd pup!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D


Anytime I google anything chicken related, this website comes up! :) I actually am needing some help with my girls (I will post in the appropriate thread)

So glad you found us in the way so many others do- thanks Google! What a beautiful little assortment of hens you have! I'm partial to Barred Rocks I must say....(and Rhode Island Reds....and Polish...and Dominiques...and well you get the picture! Chickens are awesome, need I say more?)

You said you loved having them and their eggs. Is it just me, or do fresh eggs from the flock make anything you cook with them taste 50x better? As a kid, I thought the only reason our cakes did well at the state fair was because we used eggs from my Grandma's farm flock!

Have your children enjoyed helping with the hens at all? Also, best of luck with your new puppy! Australian Shepherds are pretty active little dogs, but very attentive and smart.
