Check out some of the coop articles we have, there are several that go over prefab expansion.
Mine actually comes off a privacy fence like yours for the coop part, then I added a large welded wire kennel for the run. My birds free range all day, all year though. Plenty of shade and protection for them in other parts of the yard.
