Hi everybody! I wanted to make an introduction to the BackYard Chickens neighborhood. =)
My name is Diana and we've recently bought a house on 4+ acres. We have a few goats, a Collie watchdog and a Pyratolian Guardian dog (Great Pyranese/Anatolian Shepherd) guard dog for the goats--and I just received my order of 40 chicks from Mt. Healthy Hatchery in Ohio. =) I got 10 Rhode Island Reds, 10 Black Australorps, 10 Buff Brahmas, & 10 Ameraucanas. I figured that, amongst those, I should have a few REALLY good layers and a few REALLY good setters. =) We have 2 good sized chicken coops, so shouldn't have to worry about overcrowding. We tried growing our flock last year with a Brinsea incubator, but everytime we tried to add the chicks back into the flock, they were killed by the other chickens. So, this is my brainstorm... *chuckles*
I'd be very happy to join your community here and am very open to suggestions, ideas, and comments. =)
