Yes that is my plan, whether I ever figure out what they are or not. They do respond to staying away from or dying when I spray my clothing with "Off", and when I spray the furniture with Lysol! So it seems they aren't hard to actually kill.....Thanks for the good ideas about washing out the food bowls etc....
I have large sheets of plastic over the walls to prevent drafts, and it would be really difficult to take them down and replace...but I'm wondering if I should do this? REally really don't want to get into all that. :( Hoping the permethrin i ordered will kill it.

I'd remove the chickens, their feeders, and waterers, then mix up the spray according to direction, and spray everything down real good. Wash all the feeders, waterers, with soapy water, and rinse. Dust the chickens. When the coop is dry, return the chickens into it. Repeat in 7 days, to kill the ones that have newly hatched. Regardless of what type of mite/lice, etc. that you're dealing with, this is the most effective method of treating an infestation. DE is not effective, and causes respiratory issues.

My partner had the same issue whenever she picked up a chicken or collected eggs from the coop, I brought some Insecto Poultry Red Mite Killer Smoke Insect Fogger (smoke bomb for flying and crawling insects) covered the coop in a tarpaulin and set two off inside, aired it out, threw some Desi Dust on the floor before putting the vinyl floor covering back in and she has not had an issue since. These "whatever they were" bugs obviously only liked her smell as they never crept about on me or maybe it was because I never bother washing!!

Here we have something in the summer that I can't see either and bites the heck out of my ankles, arms and I can't see them either..:idunno
omg do you??? are they worse after rain, or on hot days? do you bring them into the house on your clothes sometimes? what do you do to get rid of them, or do they just die out on their own eventually? i'm so afraid my house is going to get infested!!

LOL on the never washing. They do seem to be super drawn to my hair products or perfumed soaps!!! Where did you get the Fogger? Did you also treat the chickens with anything, like directly on them? Did you forego eating the eggs for a period of time after the treatment? I"m so encouraged that you got rid of them!! How many chickens do you have and how large is your coop?

These things don't infest my house. My Husband never gets bites although I sure do. Even just walking on my driveway they get me! Seems when it's dry out..

They get me just outside sometimes too, but seem to be coming from the chicken barn mostly. I've had them get in my car, I think I tracked them in on my shoes or clothes...and spraying my car with Lysol fixed it. I've also had them attracted to the light on my cell phone and computer screen in the house!! And they bite my hands and face when I'm on one of these devices...like right now. I think I tracked them in yesterday, which was when I posted this because I'm freaking out from the itching!!
