Iowa Blues - Breed thread and discussion

It was a lot of fun at the show. We were very fortunate to have all the judges there spend an astounding amount of time talking to us. They wanted details on our goals for the birds and suggested changes to the SOP to improve the descriptions. In the meeting we discussed quite a few possible changes to the SOP and made plans for the upcoming Club elections. The website should be updated soon, so be sure to check out the details and show results.

I really enjoyed this weekend and being able to see everyone who was able to come. Connie, I hope you're able to make something out of those pictures we sent you with, and if you like I can send the ones from today as well.

Where can I find details for the NEIPA show? I'm planning on taking some birds.

I'll be watching the IBCC website closely!

Home and got all the chickens situated, vehicle unloaded and vacuumed out.

What FUN! Great, great weekend at the NIPA show. The judges were fantastically helpful.

Will type more when I get a moment (and apologies for being somewhat missing, busy non-chicken life, lol), but great time had with you guys, sorry that Jim and Curt had other plans, hopefully get to see you guys at EIPA.

A couple quick photos. More to come on the website soon!

Special thanks to Emily and her mom for more photos from the show. Can't wait to go through them.

They gave us front and center, a whole row. Thanks Kari for the decorations, our display looked quite snazzy!
The NIPA ran two shows back to back, so gave us two sets of judges to have a good chat with. Great information.

Images cage side of the birds shown, in order from left to right on the row - 1 SP cockerel, 6 SP pullets, 1 B cockerel, 1 B pullet.

I had great coversations lastnight with Connie and Kari about the show and the judge feedback!!! It looks and sounds like I missed a great show and a great club meeting. It sounds like everyone is on the same page with the judge feedback and is eagar to move forward with a unified idea of what our next moves are for the breed. Excellent job to everyone who showed, set up the display, sat with the judges, and participated in the club meeting. All around and exciting and encouraging weekend for the Iowa Blue!

It was a fun show and good to see those who attended. Pat Lacey, was on the ball and asked all the right questions and gave suggestions that seem simple enough to change in the SOP.
I brought my camera but never got a single picture!
The display of birds was terrific and I think a great deal of exposure was had and that's the goal of the club.
Thanks Kari for the chicks, they are all doing fine. I keep them under heat at night but roll them out in the sun during the day. they won't need heat much longer. the SD chick is really growing, need to get a pic she is getting very defined.

Did load up the show results on the website. Will add another set of photos later from the show. Need to go through the photos from Emily's mom of the judges going over the birds and get them added as well!

I am glad that the show went so well! The next ones should be even better!

I hate to drop this news after such a good show result, but, I am having to cut back on many of my activities, including chickens and am going to just be keeping a few Icelandics, so will be rehoming my Iowa Blue youngsters.

They are from eggs of Karis SP pullets.

They are mixed, SP, Birchin, 2 cockerals and five pullets. All eat from my hand, some stand to be petted.

I am about 3.5 hrs north of Detroit, almost on the Lake Huron shore, 3 miles west of the lake. Its very easy to find .

These havent been on the ground, they are in raised pen, all of my chickens are, its a closed flock, the only additions have been from eggs.

I will hold these for any serious IB folks. I want them to go to a good home. I also have two nice tame Delaware pullets, eat from the hand and love to be petted.

I wish you all the best, I am really happy to see the breed have such a great year. Next year will be even better.
