Not a ton of iridescent feathers on this one but those feathers that are can be really stunning. This bird is young and should get better:

Yeah they change color because of the varying refraction angle changing the perceived wavelength of light

I've got a cross that is a lavender Orp roo over a black Australorp/EE pullet, and that seems like she is starting to get some purple iridescence already at six weeks, I am looking forward to seeing what she looks like as she gets bigger! This is in full shade, I will try to get some pics in indirect sunlight.
