Is $14 a good price for a standard frizzle hen?

I answered an ad for some frizzles for sale, all it said was show quality with feathered feet, standard size hens.

If I only buy one or two, they want $14 per hen. They didnt say what kind they are, just that they are black/white or pure white, with feathered feet, they are 10 months old, currently laying, and the eggs are fertile at the moment cuz they have been in with the roosters. Is that a good price, or is it out of this world? I know we dont have too many frizzles in this part of the midwest, so if they are exceptionally pretty birds, I thought it was not unreasonable. Any thoughts?

I would think this is a good price. A lady out here sells young pullets just starting to lay for over $10 each. Nothing special mainly RIR.

You can order frizzle cochin chick for 3.18 a Murray Mcmurray Hatchery. And the black and white ones could either be birechens, Barred, or molten cochins. The other thing you ought to do is get a good idea of what a pure bred one looks like. We have a white cochin roo and it bred with our white rocks. Most of the chicks could easily be mistaken for a cochin. So I would do some resreach and get good idea what the standard should be for them. I found the there really isnt a set market value on poultry. We have a poultry farm here real close and the charge any where between 9 and 60 bucks per head depending on the breed. Also Frizzles are becoming very popular, and they arent hard to come by if you look at some hatcheries. Mc murrays sells frizzles and offer colors of black, red, and white. So its your call, and it depends on how bad you want them. If you really think the birds are pretty and dont want to deal with a chick then go a head and get em. But I would advise you to look around a bit.

I bought a cochin frizzle bantam from My Pet Chicken and she was $10.00 (they have a minimum order of 3 chickens). It might be worth taking a look at their website.

Mypetchicken, will charge something like $25 for a warmer to be added to the box, I tried to order a few from there before, and frankly I'd rather buy more chickens than pay the $25 for a warmer....

This person is looking at Standard Frizzles. The frizzles at hatcheries are bantams.

But then again. I am a person who would go adopt a mutt rather than spend 600-1000 on a purebred dog.
