Things you wish you could say

I would like to experience that. I don't know if I'd want to live in that, though.

The first time I visited the UK I remember it being 11PM and it was still light out in London.

I know right?! Who thinks of something like that in the UK. But they are at a very high latitude 👍

That people weren’t blatant hypocrites, the whole “rules for thee but not rules for these other people” situations.

I understand that moderation is guaranteed as a difficult and thankless job, I worked as a mod for several years a long time ago on a site far far away and balancing the workload with trying to maintain an impartial and unbiased interpretation of the rules for everyone isn’t always as easy as it sounds, “1000 times worse when the admins think it’s a good idea to name their mods…..”

However I also know from experience that some mods can have too loose or too strict a definition of the rules based on personal biases and that creates an unfair and conflict ridden environment within the site they’re moderating and I know again from personal experience that it’s usually a sign of more serious underlying issues that if not dealt with will inevitably fester into a toxic environment that users start abandoning in droves.

Too strict an interpretation of the rules and people feel like they can’t breath and avoid the site, too loose and your site is a free for all no man’s land for trolls. You have to find and carefully maintain the balance between, but if you or others let bias determine the interpretation of the rules or in general treat it like a joke ignoring obvious violations while other users are overly critiqued it undermines the entire platform, encourages users to not participate in the site, sows chaos, and in the end the site loses revenue and slips into obscurity.

You need to experience winter in the far north when the sun rises around 9:30am - skims along the horizon, then sets again at 3:30pm.

Of course in the summer it’s still light at midnight 😉

Here it’s dark around 5:30pm now and light around 8am. Dreary miserable time of year, and it’s still well over 6 weeks until winter equinox.
Just after 9am and a bit more after 3pm here, midwinter. This Sunday will be our last post-4pm sunset until January 19th.

I love it. I get something almost like agoraphobia for a while when the light starts coming back, and I start waking up already able to see the world outside and be seen by it. Though I love the light summer nights too.

"No offers, I know the value of what I sell."

If you knew the value of what you were selling, you would have sold it last year.
The market blew out on these 10 years ago, you should have sold it then, like I told you.
How's the 'value' in paying for your storage unit?
