is 17 weeks and 2 days too early to lay?

well my australorp is squatting like crazy when i go near her she squats when i pet her she does it and makes a almost purring sound its weird she also is gettin alot of attention from the boys, but do you think its to early and if you dont think it is then when do you think she will lay?

Yep, she could be the right age. I have orpingtons and white rocks start at that age. It seems that when the boys begin to notice, the girls are getting close to maturity...

ive just never had a chicken start at that age clairese was 44 weeks when she started laying and i just thought different i guess lol
