Is anyone breeding Lavender Cochins?

I have been reading up on genes and the lavender color intrigues me. The wife and I both love the blue cochins and I've been thinking lavender cochins would be a cool chicken project. However I need a chicken that carries the lavender gene if I decide to start this project.

So... Is anyone breeding Lavender Cochins?

If not, what would be a good lavender type to get started? I know some are working with Lavender Orpingtons.

Thanks

Yep - LOTS of people are getting started in Lavender Cochins now. It's a "hot" color, but the type still needs some work (don't quote me on this, but I believe that the color was introduced via outcrossing to a D'Uccle).

JamesA has some very nice Lavender Cochins (you can see some pictures on an old auction listing here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=306969), and I've seen magikchick listing some Lavender Cochin egg auctions as well (see here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=291474).

Also
, see cochinman2005 (Tom Roebuck)'s website, which has a page on his Lavender project (click on the "self-blue" tab up on top): http://gff.cochinsrule.com/photopage.htm

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the links Annarie!

Those are some beautiful cochins. I'll get some more research done and see what I can come up with. We are interested in standard sized cochins btw, although I have to admit, those lavender bantam cochins were very cool.
