Thanks for the reply, fatguyaz. Appreciate the way you came back with this. Trait of stand-up guy.
On the action-realism/blind faith thing: you might find it surprising to know that I don't believe I should be just sitting around, resting on my laurels, expecting God to service me from whatever tough time's coming. Nope. I'm preparing physically, too. I feel Him pushing me to do so, in fact. I don't have a bubble-gum and lollypop view of God never allowing bad to come in my life. I expect bad times in my life and know I will have them, with or without God in my life. We all do. But the faith part, for me, is knowing that no matter what, He is there for me and has already given me His all, His best - atonement in His beloved Son. He paved a path for me. I expect nothing more and certainly deserve not even that. So, to me, faith is not expecting Him to fulfill all of my wants/needs like a spirital Santa Clause; rather it's loving and trusting Him in my life, no matter what. I know He wants good things for me and will bless me according to His will. But I don't expectantly lean or wait on that. I just trust.
Just explaining myself on that a little better.
everything you just described is how i feel about my parents... Except they are REAL and i don't have to assume anything. I put faith in things i can see. I'm not AGAINST faith or spirituality. I think it gives people strength that they otherwise may not have known that they already had. I DO, however, have a problem with organized religion. They are made to profit and spread their own agenda and that's all.
Too often people use religion as a crutch to tell them how to live their lives. People should innately know the difference between right and wrong. They should know that they don't need to pay to get into heaven. Look at the extremist Muslims trying to get into heaven by blowing themselves (and many others) up... They are just being good Muslims, as far they're concerned. If they sat back and understood how LIFE works and not just what they are spoon fed to believe, they should know it's not right to blow people up.
I'm going off on a tangent, now... Sorry. By the way, Vote Obama.
