Is anyone else getting really scared?

I think there are some changes headed our way. And after all the finger pointing is over with maybe we can vote out the old and vote in some new.
I'd like to see limited terms for congress and senate. We just need some new blood...younger than me people with the zeal and energy to hold fast to what our courageous forefathers intended for us to have.
I bet they though the world was tipped upside down when they signed the Declaration of Independence.
I also think of movies like "The Patriot" and "Red October". I'm too old to survive any situation like either of those...so I'll just pray for our country and our people. And HOPE!

I agree with term limits for the senate and congress there crooks that would be a major change, it is Democratic party controlled currently, they pass the laws the president just signs them.

I completely agree with this! Our society has become so consumer oriented that we have lost our "work hard and save for what you need or want" roots and traded it for a "buy now and pay later" way of life. So many people think they are "entitled" to a good life rather than earning a good life.

I am a graduate of Dave Ramsey's "Financial Peace University" which has taught me and my family so much about budgeting, saving, investing and buying. We live debt free (except the mortgage), save for our wants and have an emergency fund that covers any unforeseen expense. I highly recommend Dave Ramsey's book "Total Money Makeover" if you feel you need to improve your personal financial picture or visit daveramsey.com.

As for the rich paying more because they are rich( which I saw in another post)....there are more 1st generation millionaires today than ever before and these people did not get to where they are by working 40 hrs/week. They work 60hrs or more a week to get where they are and I don't feel it's right to ask that person to pay a higher percentage of their earnings than me just because they busted their tails to get where they are and it paid off for them. (I'm middle middle-class by the way and an independent voter) A great book to on the subject of millionaires is "The Millionaire Next Door."

As for my faith in this crisis: I am comforted that my maker is there for me in good times and bad. I am a faithful Christian and that means I am ACTIVE not passive. It is my prayer that the actions I take made by faith are the right actions. Some things are beyond my control however and those I leave in God's hands. I pray for our country, our leaders, the world and I do what I can in my little town to live right and help and encourage others.

God bless and don't fret too much we will get through this and be wiser and stronger for having done so.

About more taxes for the rich. My great grandfather started a small hardware/ lumber company in the 30's. For over 70 years it has been a family owned business, no one outside the family has EVER owned any of it. It has been passed down through the years and now my cousin runs it. I recently sold him all my shares due to my own financial mistakes. This business has provided my family security and jobs for many others. Am I rich ,no. Are the family members who still own stock? Some are, depending on how much stock they have in the company. Don't tell me they should be taxed more because they have worked their butts off for 70 years to get where they are now. When Home Depot moved in, they had it rough for awhile but things improved. Our company has had its ups and downs just like everything else, but with alot of hard work, we've made it this far. I don't think me family should pay more because things worked out for them. I bet if it was your money they wanted more of you would be singing a different tune.

I usually pay taxes at the end of the year and all though the year. My wife thinks it is a privledge and and honor to pay the goverment taxes since it could be going to help those who are in need or don't have the ability to care for themselves. For her it is like Karma what goes around comes around, I don't agree with her, then she will complain about them taking so much from her check, were just maybe middle class and we won't see any benefits from either of the current canidates as far as tax relief.

i don't worry, ever. about anything, ever.
concern and worry are two different things.

i keep my eyes and ears open, but dump all my cares at the feet of my God and i leave them there.

I agree with you too, Key West. My husband & his father before him started a small water utility company in the 80s. It is still a small business but would be taxed heavily in this plan we're speaking of. They work HARD as do their workers, who they take care of with such integrity & respect because we would have no business without everything they do. It would hurt all who have a part of our biz here; workers and owners. Because if more money goes out when you're a small biz, you can't afford to keep up same number of workers. It hurts all, too high, targeted taxes.

I'll vote for the guy who gives everybody a tax break DH says income taxes are illegal. Taxes without representationi f the money went to our country but most of it goes outside of our country. How much of it funds our country not much.
