Is anyone else in the process of building their coop for spring?

I've got the area of placement cleaned up, I've got some (semi) blue prints of my coop vision (always subject to revision), and I'm painting the interior plywood with latex paint (at my local habitat for humanity, they were selling 1x4 ft 3/4" plywood for a buck so I got a stack of them.... Easier for me to handle, super cheap, but it will take finagling to put it all together and waterproof between the boards).

I really want to have the majority of work done before I order my dudettes in January!

What stage are you at?!?

i am kinda. i have a design that i found that i am adding my own improvements onto. its a coop a guy here sells for a huge amount of money but i can do it cheaper and add some of the things i have learned here

so now i am just starting to shop for things. i am still working out a few added things, like it i want to insulate the coop and if i should put in a sky light. it may be a rush in the spring but lucky for me, i have lots of family and friends who are also very good at building that love me and will work for free

and seeing how i rent a room in my mom and dads house, even want to help me pay for it... i have great parents

All I have is a material list. The blueprints are in my head. The ground is too frozen to go at to level the foundation. I'll start in March, the peeps will be here in March so I'll have 6 wks to get it done, and I will probably use all 6 wks just 'cause I choose to. Could do it in 1wk, but why hurry? This is the 2nd coop and will be just like the 1rst.

Heck, it feels like it's taken me more than a week to just paint my boards! Since I'm relatively new to coop building, I imagine it will take me awhile to complete it....

I'm still shopping for plans. This being my first time at raising chickens, I've been doing some research first. I'm hoping to find some that I like (I've been thinking about buying Building a Chicken Coop by Bill Keene) as we're planning on purchasing around 25 pullets. I better get my act together though, as Spring will be here before you know it. I'm not asking for any free plans, but does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look? Many thanks.

Does a huge dog crate for 4 birds, that will later be used as an emergency coop work?

I'm renovating it by sawing large squares of leftover wood from our last project on all sides and on the bottom to hold in the bedding and keep safe from drafts. I put two bricks in there for the waterer to go on and there will be no food in the coop for sanity reasons, and they'll be either free ranged or in their run all day. Add a thick fallen stick for a roost and some bedding and I'm good!

"Coop" is completed, as it was built into part of a storage shed. Still working on 8x10 run, and I hope the weather holds for at least part of the weekend so I can get the final wood framing and door completed.

Still in planning stages of my 6x8 shed style coop.(second coop)
Hatching eggs end of March, then moving outside end of May to be integrated slowly with current birds while in temp coop.
Hope to have new coop done by end of July.
I have time... besides, it's 15º out right now... The ground is a rock!
