Is anyone else made fun of because they like chickens?

At school people make fun of me, saying how they love to eat chickens and such. I've told them a million times the way most restaurants kill their chickens, slitting their necks and leaving about 2/4 of them to get boiled alive. All they say is that chickens are just meat and eggs, not a creature.

. I even made a powerpoint about it! I hate being made fun of for something I am passionate about. It like making fun of some one for liking cats. Same thing. Still an animal. Their are two boys that do it all the time. I'll hit them, but they just laugh at me when I get in trouble for doing it.

When I even try not too, they just try even harder to make me. I don't know why they do it. Other people are too. They squawk at me when I'm going down the halls. Does anyone else get made fun of?

My niece is my "chicken partner". She is in the 7th grade and there is a boy who constantly makes fun of her because of her chicken addiction. She loves her self-white polish! It sits on her shoulder like a weird pirate/parrot thing!

Just between you and me, boys are stupid and stinky and if they are spending all this time teasing you, they are either just slow or they really really like you. Either way, ignore them. The more you pay attention to their teasing, the more it fuels their need to tease you.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being passionate about a hobby - be it chickens or volleyball or 4H. If you like it, it doesn't matter one iota what some stupid adolescent boys have to say about it.

You have to do what is right for you. There is no one to answer to but your heart.

No Worries, they just do not understand. Dont pay them any mind and dont let it show that they get to you.

You are the better person

Lets see how many members does BYC have over 25k so we cant all be wrong....
Whats it to them that you have chickens anyway?I mean are they so into you that they think about what you have?

They never complain about the eggs. And if they want to make fun, big deal. I think they make more fun of the fact that I spend time on BYC rather than actually owning the chickens.

My 6th grade son just got interviewed by someone from his school newspaper because they voted him weirdo of the week. The main reason they chose him was because he is always talking about his chickens. The little girl came to interview him and her first question was did he really have chickens. So we took her to the back yard and put Poofy the EE on her shoulder. I think he thinks its pretty cool to be weird.

I'm weird too. I sit in my chicken tractor and watch my feather-kids play

Edit: PS don't hit guys for teasing you

unless they call you really nasty names, like ones we can't say on here.

I got fired for it, but he deserved it for calling me a whore and other nasty stuff - just sayin, try not to make a habit of it unless they REALLY deserve it. You might regret it later (or not)

I'm the crazy chicken lady and I agree. I'm crazy about chickens. I don't care. My daughter is really into chickens. She's 6. We have invited the whole class to come see them so they can understand how neat they really are.

Some people will find something to make fun of you for no matter what. If it wasn't chickens, it would be something else. At least you have something interesting to do with your time-- you take care of your cool chickens instead of wasting your time making fun of other people at school. Making fun of others is for people who are too boring and uncreative to think of something better to do. At least you can know that you have a cool hobby with your chickens, no matter what others may say!
