I'm in High School and my chooks are my dirty little secret.
A few words of wisdom from someone who's been there before:
-Ignore it and they will eventually find more amusing things to do. Hitting simply draws more attention to yourself.
-Don't preach the students. They'll never understand and it's no defence for you. This is really only rubbing salt in the wound.
-Try not to make a huge show of your chickens. You can love them but it's this sort of thing that makes you more noticeable.
-Be strong and shake it off. This sort of thing doesn't depress over night. Just whatever you do, don't get adults involved. God, if I had a dime for every time my mom got involved in a child-related affair I'd be rich and a tattle-tale!
Chickens aren't meant to be loved by all. They're a sore subject among many. Only my friends know about my birds. Boys are the worst. I remember they were the ones who wouldn't leave me alone. The aggression did subside many painstaking, cold-shouldering years later. Remember: they're strongest in numbers. Try not to make the numbers bigger.
