Is anyone thinking of trying a different breed/variety this spring?

I don't believe I can fit anymore but that doesn't mean that I won't get anymore

I mostly plan on working on varieties of Polish, barred bantam EE's and my Japanese and, of course, the houdan. I also have some mottled cochin hens who need a roo and a BBS pen that needs work. Just hatched out a blue barred Polish(mix), that might be something interesting ....

There are so many that I want to experience(!), but I will be getting some Welsummer for sure, and maybe some Spitzhaubens. I don't have any bantams so I'd also like to get either some silkies, maybe d'uccles, vorvek, or welsummer bantams too! Maybe all!
Working on bantam coop and pen designs.........and the intended welsummer coop/run needs built still. I love this hobby!

I am hoping to get some Buckeyes if the world holds together long enough....I'll have to get rid of some birds to make room for them, though. I think my two Silkie roosters have served their purpose (I have eight EE-cross chicks out of them; six of them are pullets and should be good broodies), and so have the six EE hens, who are nearly two years old now anyway. (My birds aren't pets, they have to produce enough to pay their way.)

I would love to get a silkie and a bantam faverolle. I really only have room for a few more so one of each would be great or some how convince hubby we just HAVE to expand everything.

We will see and it would be hard to only get 2 chickens so expanding would make more sense so I could at least order the min. and get 5.

I am trying to resist the impulse to get some more gold-necked d'Uccles in the spring. I had one that died this past summer, and I loved just about everything about her. But I've already got enough breeds!

I hear ya, Amazon. I have a few birds I'd like to get as well but don't have the room.. or the time.

Wish List:
Blue Wheaten Ameraucana (IF I ever would do LF)- from either Peachick or ...there was some other lady down south who had beautiful ones...her name had something to do with palamino or something?
Bantam Salmon and Blue Salmon Faverolle- Henry has some gorgeous ones and Im pretty sure he'd sell me some eggs:) Im so glad to see how many folks are going to give the faves a try. They were always one of my grandfather's favorites along with the rosecombs...
Silver Spangled Hamburgs- from Graceful Bantams

I like the idea of the heritage breeds. I have Delawares started, as well as White Faced Black Spanish. These are both listed as, "critical." Now, that darn Laura Haggerty and JamesA have me convinced that I need some Buckeyes, (on critical list). Soooooo.... Another, "critcal,' breed I am interested in is the Chantecler. I would like to find some white ones. I love their combs (nice for winter!).

Then there are the Sussex. They are listed as, "threatened." I have started 4 Light Sussex, but 2 died at 2 weeks old. I hope to get more of these. I really like the Sussex breed, too. Especially the Light and the Coronation.

I am lovin' watchin' my Jersey Giants grow. They are also in the endangered list; listed as, "watch." Wynette has great Giants, by the way!

*Note to self: get Buckeyes, Light (and maybe Coronation) Sussex, and find some white Chanteclers. Check on RIR eggs from PineGrove. Get rid of Seramas!
