Is bumble foot common? Worried about rooster!

You don't need to get the whole bird wet, use a shallow pan and just put his feet in it, just deep enough to go up to the next joint. If his leg feathers get a bit wet you can just dry with a towel, and keep him in a warm place til they dry completely. A blow dryer on low, if he will tolerate it will speed it up.
No I won't do the whole body, I know to do his legs lol but I'm sure there are people out there that would do that though:lau I have a shallow plastic foot tub.

Will be thinking about you....wrestling and wrapping that big boy.
Hope it goes well.

Have you ever had your hands on him, holding him with wings pinned to body?
Keeping his wings pinned is key..and his feet from gaining purchase..and you face away from his beak :D is that enough advice.
Best of cLuck!

Yes and he wiggles with everything in him to escape my clutch, it's amazing how strong fast those chickens are. I'm going to wear thick leather work gloves and along with my husband's thick carhart coat. Maybe goggles too :fl

Don't forget photos!! Of you with all your safety equipment for sure and a few of that wild rooster would be good too;)

Good luck, please keep us posted.

OK, I'm dying to soak his leg and get an asprin in him. I'm going to try to get my mom to help, hopefully she won't freak out. How do I dry him though? I'm scared to cage him BC I can see him acting stupid in there and getting hurt again?

With a hair dryer. More than likely both you and the rooster are going to be getting soaked (let's hope not, though- okay? ;))

I gave him a half of a baby aspirin, and I was beyond lucky that he got it, and I went to give him another half and one of the hens got it then I went to try it again then the other hen got it ugh. I should let the girls out before I done that, but he acts so panicky when I do let them out he paces, trips and claws the fence. It's like I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't :barnie the hair dryer might be wishful thinking possibly the soak too :( I'm ordering him some B- complex now. I lowered their roost way down low. I should of done that sooner bc I've been hearing him fall trying to get on the roost at night. It's the biggest boom you wouldn't believe . I wish one of you guys was my neighbor lol

LOL You are just having a hard time!

I believe the Boom from coming off the roost. Mine was a heavy fella over 8.5lbs, even with deep bedding (I keep it around 8" or so) I could hear him land every morning, sounded like a bowling ball was being dropped on the floor of the coop. That one morning, I did not hear the boom and knew something was wrong:(

What happened to your rooster? Yeah that's how mine is, one time he heard our dog barking at a deer he jumped off his roost (or fell) and scared that deer to death lol I honestly don't think my rooster sleeps. I can do a sneak look in there and his eyes are always wide open! He is strange! I was reading it's the heavy breeds that are most likely to suffer leg injuires ...Yes all my chickens are giving me a hard time lol
