Is BYC Experiencing Cabin Fever?

Pics
I woke to single digit temps and snow. :(

We get some nice days during winter. We also have a plague of distracted drivers so best to ride in a group. :hmm

Even with my new loud pipes people try to change lanes right into that big trike.
Seriously! It's bigger than a "smart car" and WAY louder. How do they not see it right next to their drivers door?!?!
Yeah, I much rather ride with groups, but how come there's always 1 guy that wants to lag way behind, so they are just asking to be overlooked by 4 wheeler traffic?

When I'm not wrangling chickens, I drive HGV's (semis or 18 wheelers) and this happens to me everyday. I'm shocked at how much risk people take to get in front of me. I've learnt over the years to pre-empt what traffic is going to do but some drivers still find new and ingenuitive ways of trying to hurt themselves.

Driving on the road can be frightening! My husband rides a motorcycle and I used to pull a horse trailer (not even close to an 18-wheeler) but... we both have a vastly different perspectives of traffic now than we did before having motorcycles and trailers. If everyone were required to pull a trailer (utility, boat, horse, RV trailer) and maneuver it and also drive or ride with a motorcyclist as part of the driver's exam to be eligible for a license, I wonder if that would help. From what I can tell, most driver's have no idea what it's like... the visibility, additional stopping distance and how so very close other cars seem when on a motorcycle. Might give folks a newfound respect.

I totally agree. But sadly the response is to make cars that stop for you or warn you to stay in your own lane when you're too busy texting to drive right.

I saw a tv commercial yesterday for a car that sounds an alert to remind the driver to keep their eyes on the road. Can't remember what type of car though...anyone else see that?

Seriously, now you want me to pay attention to the road while I'm driving? :gig
