Oh gosh yes! People around here have been stock piling chickens like they do toilet paper! I can't find my preferred feed because everyone is buying it up. I can't even order it online anymore.
I was at the feed store last Friday, bright and early to get my feed right as the store opened. There were people already in line to buy chicks! They want them because of food shortage fears, apparently.
Talking with the gal who works there, she said it's been crazy. They'll order hundreds of chicks, and they sell out in hours.
She also told me she's gotten concerningly dumb questions from some of these panic chick purchasers:
Thank goodness at least some of them (the good, smart ones) have the sense to do a little research on BYC...

She also told me she's gotten concerningly dumb questions from some of these panic chick purchasers:
- I've had my chicks for 3 weeks. Why haven't they laid any eggs?
- Why did my chicks die? They loved the chick grit I was feeding them.
- What's a rooster?
- Why won't the chicks I bought a couple of days ago eat the vegetables I give them?
- How do you house train them?
Thank goodness at least some of them (the good, smart ones) have the sense to do a little research on BYC...
