is corn or purina more healthy

Quote:
Corn is not inherently "bad" for chickens. Most chicken feed has a good portion of corn in the ingredients. Corn just does not have enough protein and all necessary amino acids & such to be the sole feed for chickens.

Good advice, and worth repeating.

At the risk of being old fashioned, I'll add that there are some pretty darned good books on raising chickens out there.

thank you everyone. I appriciate this input, i will make sure to keep up on the purina. Also... can chickens eat dried corn kernels whole? or must they be cracked or ground?

They can eat them whole once they are grown.

I like to feed whole because it takes them longer to eat, thus, more fun!
