In another thread that I posted on here, I asked for help with a bantam chick that has what I've now determined to be an eye infection. I was told to get terramycin, but I can't find any around here. I did have someone very kindly give me erythromycin opthalmic ointment. Is it safe to use on the little guy, and if so, will it help with the eye infection?

I have looked for terramycin before, too, and have yet to find it in a pet store. It may be something you would have to get from a vet.

Check the ingredients of that ointment you have. If it has anything from a tea tree in it, it is toxic to chickens.

It says the ingredients are "Erythromycin USP 5 mg per gram in a sterile opthalmic base of Mineral Oil and White Petrolatum."
