There's a whole page of hatcheries and another page of breeders at www.CountryChickens.com. Some of them are small hatcheries, so you may have more luck with them.
I got peeps from Welp Hatchery and Xtreme Gamebirds back in November, then from Ideal Hatchery three weeks ago. It's hit or miss from one place to the next, but somebody out there will have peeps for you.
Songbird, I haven't seen any follow up posts so maybe you've moved on but if you're still looking for some chicks, tell us what you want and where you are.
I'm still selling hatching eggs so I won't be putting eggs in my incubator until April now for the Ameraucanas and much later than that for the Welsummers as depending on what kind of response I get, I may be selling hatching eggs for them too.

March and April are very popular months for people getting new chicks so it sometimes is a little harder getting them now if you did not place an order in advance.
Unless your looking for something really uncommon you should still be able to get birds though. Most of the uncommon varieties sell out for the season months before they start shipping but the more common varieties are usually available although you may have to wait a few weeks after placing an order.

According to my Spreadsheet, I was over $1000 in the red last year. Do you suppose I could ask for a bailout? Yeah, fat chance! Not that I would anyhow.

God Bless,
I don't keep track because if I did my dh would probably make me sell them all. lol
I ordered from Cackle a month later then I usually do now I have to wait 10 weeks to get my order. Usually I only have to wait 3 weeks.
People are eating more chicken now more than ever because it is affordable protein as my mom calls it from eggs to chicken meat. So the hatcherys may also be filling more orders for broilers and layer birds so less room in the incubators for other types?
My local feed store is having trouble selling theirs! They are Ideal chicks, 6 or 7 varieties, plus one type duck, with pullets available. Check around locally, at the hardware/feed stores. And they are taking care of them; I went back and got 3 more EE's, and they look just like the ones I've had for 10 days.
