Is hardware cloth ok as coop floor?

I have a similar situation going on, and I'm going to get a flat piece of wood to cover it and hold under the coop. I will put shavings on top of it. I also have hardware cloth under the run, which will probably be covered with topsoil.

Once the birds (and their poops) get bigger you're going to find a lot of poop caught on there... more work to scrub it off the wire. Between that and the fact that it's hard on their feet, I'd either putting a wood floor over it or an ample amount of bedding to provide cushion and to absorb the poops.
