Is he happy?

Whenever I pat Hugo’s back he sticks his (or hers not too sure yet) tail up in the air? I don’t know if their happy, still learning about ducks and couldn’t find anything on Google, want some help.

Hmm, I don't know, it could be submissive behavior too.

Some behaviour is instinctive. Like a cat doing the same when you pet their back's/base of tail. Could just be this.
