I'm sorry about the bunnies!
The male and female sound pretty! We had an all black bunny a few years ago. Her name was Olive! Oh boy the beach! That sounds fun!
Hahaha! That's funny she stole eggs! I guess she thought she didn't have enough to sit on already! Ginger and Georgie kept switching eggs back and forth. I wonder why they do that? I don't know how Biddy is going to do as a mama. She wasn't very nice to the other chicks when I put them in the coop, but she wasn't mean to Ginger and Georgies chicks while they were there. I'm hoping the mothering instinct kicks in and she does what she's supposed to! If not, I'll probably put the new chick with the other new chicks.
The partridge chick was marked as straight run on the box so I'll be watching to see if it is a roo or if it ends up a pullet. I can't figure out who's the roo with the polish and hamburg chicks yet either. I'm going to name the polish roo Rod Stewart because of his head of hair! LOL!
Your probably in a good place to raise yours "all natural" since your so warm there! Haha, that would be a heck of a package to get in the mail! A box of crawling bugs!
I ended up with some minnows yesterday that Jim caught while he was fishing and I fed the dead ones to the older chicks out in the coop and they went nuts over em! I gave the tiniest ones to the new chicks and they were so funny chasing each other around trying to get a peck of fish! One would grab one up and run to the box to hide and eat it but the others all ran after it and another one would steal it away and do the same thing, over and over til there wasn't any fish left! I was cracking up, they're so cute!
They've been getting an extra treat the last few days, the tomato worms are out now and I have to pick them off my tomatoes every morning so they don't eat them to the ground and the chickens LOVE them! Big, green, squishy caterpillars! I only give the tiny ones to the new chicks, all the rest I give to the bigger chickens and they do just what the little ones were doing with the fish. Chase and steal, chase and steal. LOL!
