I see the men on this thread aren't much help, as usual.

I thought I was very helpful. You are asking for carte blanche chicken acceptance (which I of course am on board with).
It seems from your post he is getting carte balnche rifle acceptance (or are you holding back some relevant details?)

If so.....why are either of you even bickering? Save it for the next family holiday.

And if I ever make it to AK I want to shoot the M14

OOPS....I meant AR...man that is likely to stir up some dung!

Oh but we're not bickering. Can't remember the last time we "bickered". We just get into some strange, but interesting discussions.

I don't really know a dang thing about this rifle. I had him tell me what it was when you asked yesterday. Other than that all I know is that he's wanted one of them for a very long time and they are hard to find. His buddy that owns a gun shop is hunting one down for him. When he finally finds one and brings it home, he'll probably show it off to me - I'll owww and ahhhhh to be polite - then it will join the other gazillion guns in the cabinets. OR it may be like that other special rifle, an M4 something-or-other, that has its own case.

I have two firearms to use - a .22 rifle that was DH's brothers (it's about 50 yrs. old) and a shotgun. One is for human predators, the other for animal predators.

I really couldn't care less about the particulars or the amount of firearms in the house, so long as I don't have to dust them.

I think her "helpful" comment was aimed mostly at me. I'm the one that changed the tone for some people. She knows how much sympathy she usually gets from me on this type of thread.

I stick by my guns. If you don't know how many chicks you have or plan to have, as fast as they grow, you are not going to be able to take care of them properly. Chicks do count. And besides, on general principle, Keith is usually right.

Nah Ridge, this time my comment was aimed at men in general.

My chicks have a purpose in life. They will grow up to either lay eggs or help in protecting their flock.

I see no purpose for all these firearms. I can't recall the last time the one with the fancy case, the M4, was fired. I think it was about a year ago, during department qualifications. He likes em, I don't care. I like chickens, he don't care. About the only difference is that my chickens don't require monthly cleanings that stink up the house. Gritty HATES the smell of gun oil.

Is that gun oil or have you been feeding those house dogs of yours boiled egg yolks again? Don't ask too much about how I know about that one and mine are outside dogs.

I cleaned my 12 gauge yesterday. That was a nicer smell than some others I can think of.

Try to enjoy the weekend. I think we are in for a couple of nice days before it hits again.

And just for the record, "it" gets blamed on the dogs alot more than it actually happens. My boys are burpers, not...., and the burping usually requires that they be in your face at the time.
