Is it morally right to breed more chickens????

FourPawz, I agree with what you posted and I'll add to it.

I've had dogs for 30+ years, only a few purebred and several (if I think, it's about 5 litters and maybe 30 pups) litters of beautiful mutts. Now, that being said, I also ALWAYS made sure that anyone that took one of my pups (after they were screened) made sure that they knew they would always be able to bring that pup back to me. I brought them into this world and it's my responsibility to make sure they make it through life ok, if their current folks can't do it for them

Utterly ridiculous!

Ignore the fanatics, the uninformed, the bleeding hearts...chickens are a food animal and as such, do not "go to waste" if there are too many...they can be consumed and thus ends the plethora of poor chicken orphans in the world.

Morally wrong! Phhhhht!

you know, when i got into this chicken venture, i tried my darndest to adopt my chickens. its freaking impossible. i cant even find any on craigslist to add to my flock! there is a chicken rescue website, ONE. and its in england. so tell that lady if she really wants to help, why doesnt she start a freaking chicken rescue so that those of us who are interested in the welfare of animals have somewhere to go to start.

dont feel bad, just love your chickens

FourPaws:

i have an english bull terrier and i get alot of crap for not having a mutt. People want to be more angry with me for having a purebred instead of being angry for the irrisponsible jerks who dont fix their pets and drop them off at the shelter to get a better model>

ugh, people need to mind their opwn business

I dont think that theres ANY difference in breeding chickens or breeding dogs and cats... None at all.
They are all animals that need food and care and proper housing.. and chickens get passed around from home to home ALL the time....just like breeder dogs and cats do..
So whats the difference? There is none...

I think it all boils down to personal responsibility... and minding your own business.
If you breed chickens then you have no right to speak out aganist dog or cat breeders. Unless you are responsible for EVERY single chick that you sell...
Which we all know will never happen.
Just my opinion...
Also wanted to add..i have NO problem with chicken breeders OR dog or cat breeders either...

Amen, why should I have to take the leftovers of someone else's irresponsibility just because it's "PC" I have purebred dogs and purebred chickens. I like to know what I'm getting, what to expect from them as far as temperment and activity level etc. I don't have the resources to waste time and money on some unknown, unhealthy animal because someone else wouldn't, so don't get down on me for being the responsible planning one. You wouldn't believe the amount of flack I got for buying a purebred puppy after months of research!

Breed all the chickens you want, don't let anybody else force their agenda on you.

I wonder if she grows tomatoes or if she gets hers from one of the many places that keep the thousands of tomatoes looking for a home? Considering that most of us have chickens for eggs and meat (AND the joy that is chickens), it is pretty much the same as gardening, only we provide the fertilizer instead of use it.
