Is it normal for chickens to molt in the summer?

Yup. It's starting to look like a pillow exploded in my run...
Between the heat and the molting my egg production is waayyyyy down.

I also noticed a lot of black feathers in the coop this morning. My egg production has been down all summer. I get about 50%. I have 18 layers and only get 7or 8 eggs a day. One coop of one yr olds gives good the 2yr olds don’t.
